How to get there and parking

Salford is a very well-connected city, being extremely close to Manchester, a main transport terminus.

By Air

Manchester International Airport is close by, and connected to Salford by road and rail. Trains from Manchester International Airport run hourly and take 30 minutes to campus. The airport can also be reached by car within 20 minutes.

By Rail

The university has a mainline railway station, Salford Crescent, on its doorstep, with direct services all over the north west. There are regular services from Manchester Piccadilly, which has direct services from London, Birmingham, Scotland, Newcastle, Southampton and Devon.

By Road

The campus is connected by local bus services run by Stagecoach and First. There are also Megabus services to Shudehill in Manchester city centre, and National Express services call both in Manchester city centre and at University of Salford itself.

There are cycle parking shelters on campus near the daytime space.

The university is also reachable by car, the post code for sat nav users is M5 4NJ or use the post codes for the specific parking areas below.

Parking

The University has outsourced its Car Parking to a Company called Paybyphone.co.uk.

There are Car Parking spaces underneath Delaney 1 overnight accommodation ( Post Code M5 4QJ ) and there is a lift from here up into the accommodation.

There are also Car Parking spaces underneath Pankhurst ( at the back of Lowry 1 ) overnight accommodation ( Post Code M5 4FA )

There are Car Parking spaces on Irwell Place Car Park behind Faraday House ( Post Code M5 4WT )

You will need to download the PayByPhone app before arrival and you can then pay for parking whenever you are on site. The Location Code is 59323 unless otherwise stated.

In case of no web connection, you can also ring them on 0161 880 0100 and Irwell Place Car Park has a pay and display machine.

Current charges are :-

  • £1.20 for 90 minutes
  • £2.40 for 180 minutes
  • £4.00  from 9.00am to 6.00 pm

After 6.00 pm parking is free on all car parks until 9.00 am the next morning

There are spaces reserved for Registered Blue Badge holders in every car park and this parking is free.

The small Chapman Car Park is reserved for people with access needs only. We need your registration number in advance if you need this so they can be put on a white list before arrival.
